Joseph R. Pierce, Jr., class of 1943, passed away on June 2, 2010. Joseph is survived by his wife, Sally, and four children: Christine (class of 68), Cynthia (1971), Mark (1972), and Sara (1979), 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Joseph's father had been the city treasurer for EGR in the 1930's, his grandfather Walter Pierce served as a township supervisor (before EGR was incorporated), and his maternal great grandfather, Thomas Ezra Reed, was owner and operator of the Manhattan Beach Club on Reed's Lake at the turn of the last century. Mr. Pierce was a descendant of the Reed family for whom the lake is named.

Dr. Bill Krissoff, ’64 lost his 25 year old son, Marine 1st Lt. Nathan Krissoff, on December 9, 2006 in Al Ambar province, Iraq. To honor his son and serve his country, Bill obtained a special waiver to enlist in the U. S. Navy Medical Corps Reserves. An orthopedic surgeon, Bill will be of great service to the Navy and will also assist with the medical needs of the Marines (his fallen son’s branch of service). The new Navy Lt. Commander Krissoff and his wife, Christine, have another son, Austin, who also serves in the U. S. Marine Corp. They live in Truckee, California.

IN REMEMBRANCE...
Paul E. Douglas, ’64 of Grand Rapids, MI died January 6, 2008. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, daughter, Jenifer, sons, Keith, Zackary and Symon, and several grandchildren. He ran the family business, The Camera Center on Wealthy St., SE in Grand Rapids until 2005.
Louise E. Petersen Schaefer, ’33 of Grand Rapids, MI died on February 5, 2008. Her husband Walter Schaefer, Jr., preceded her in death. She is survived by her four children, William, James, Ellen and Stephen, nine grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was an active member of the Grand Rapids community and had a long professional writing career that included free-lance copy work for many local businesses and newspapers.
Peter H. VandenBerg, ’76 of Milwaukee, WI died on March 31, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Nancy Todd VandenBerg and their three children, Will, Sarah and Andy. He leaves
behind his Mother, Shirley VandenBerg and brother Chris and sisters Juliana and Susan. The Foundations VandenBerg Scholarship was established by the VandenBerg Family in memory of Peter’s Father, William.

Our class will be at the homecoming game the night before (already collecting money for tickets, and will notify the AD as to how many I need the week of the game). We're also scheduled to tour the high school with Jenny Fee on the 24th at 2 p.m. Our reunion at the GRYC starts at 6 p.m. and goes until midnight. We're having a bbq (Famous Dave's is catering, and they'll be grilling on site), as well as a 10 p.m. Yesterdog bar.
