A Virtual Cup of Coffee with Nicole Borst '20

You can only have one: Rose’s caramel corn, an ice cream cone from Jersey Junction, or a Yesterdog. Which do you choose?
Ice cream cone from Jersey Junction!

What are your plans after graduation?
Study biochemistry at Lake Superior State University and then go on to graduate school.

What have you learned in East that will enable you to be successful?
In addition to learning the basic pre-requisites East has helped me learn how to problem solve, adapt to the situation, and keep a positive attitude.

What were you like in school?
A small group of friends and mostly focused on my studies.

Did you have a favorite teacher or class?
Mrs. Elderkin is definitely one of my favorites. You can tell she loves the material she is teaching which makes it so much easier to learn. She is always willing to help students and ensures that the classroom has a positive atmosphere while allowing students the freedom to approach their work at their own speed.

If you had to choose one moment in one location to serve as the signature moment of your East school experience, what would it be?
The story-sharing and dance at senior retreat.

What do you know now that you wish you’d known when you were younger?
Life is not all about grades and trophies. It's who you are on the inside and how you view the world around you that really matters.

Who from East do you think you’ll stay in touch with in the future?
A few close friends.

What advice do you have for young East kids?
For those fellow nerds...don't forget there's more to life than studying. Get out there and have some fun once in a while!

Bonus question: What are you glad we didn’t ask you about?
Homework load!
