A Virtual Cup of Coffee with Anna Knuble '20

You can only have one: Rose’s caramel corn, an ice cream cone from Jersey Junction, or a Yesterdog. Which do you choose?
I would choose Jersey Junction because it has the best Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream ever. I've been going to Jersey Junction since what feels like forever and it never disappoints. I even got a job there with some of my friends for the summer.

What are your plans after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on going to MSU and becoming a teacher. I want to live in a City when Im older and teach at an Elementary school.

What have you learned in East that will enable you to be successful?
East has taught me to never compare yourself to others. Whether its school, sports, or looks we are each our own individual. East has also taught me that we are stronger when we stick together as a community. This could be with sporting events, the death of a loved one or supporting a local business. When we come together, we are the best version of EGR.

What were you like in school?
In school, I was extremely social. I loved being involved in student council and being a friendly face in the hall. I'm the type of person who loves the company of other people, so I was always looking for a friend to chat with or getting to know someone better. I love being a leader and having fun with friends.

Did you have a favorite teacher or class?
My favorite teacher was Mrs Miller. She was the type of teacher who always went out of her way to make sure everyone understood each lesson. She has always been very approachable and psych was really fun to learn. I also love anyone who works in the main office/guidance office. They would always say hello and ask how my day was. Shout out to Mrs Allaben, Mrs Kiel and Mrs Boeve. :D :D

If you had to choose one moment in one location to serve as the signature moment of your East school experience, what would it be?
The moment I chose was the first football game of my Senior year. I had the whole school over for a tailgate to paint each other. Then, the whole school walked from my house to memorial field. It was the coolest thing looking behind me and seeing soo many people following. It was such a crazy feeling knowing our class got to be leading the Student Section. Go East!

What do you know now that you wish you’d known when you were younger?
I wish I would have learned to say no more and that its okay to be a little selfish sometimes. I always wanted to please everyone around me which ended up just making me upset because I wasn't doing what I wanted to.

Who from East do you think you’ll stay in touch with in the future?
I think I'll stay in touch with all of my girlfriends and guy friends (s/o red silva, toast)hahaha. We have always been a close friend group and I can definitely see myself coming back from college and hanging out with the same people.

What advice do you have for young East kids?
Some advice for young East kids would be that school isn't a competition. We all learn at a different pace and some people have to study more than others to succeed. That is totally fine!! Find what you like doing and do it! Even if not all your friends do. Also, don't be scared to talk to people you don't know :)

Bonus question: What are you glad we didn’t ask you about?
I'm glad you didn't ask me about the ACT or SAT hahaha. I've never liked standardized tests and your score on those tests don't define who you are as a person or how smart you are.
