Foundation-Funded iPads Help Middle School Art Classes Go Digital

It’s safe to say the Middle School Art Teacher Holly Lampen continues to find ways to use the new iPads and Apple Pencils the Foundation–thanks to our donors–provided for her students.

“We are so excited to have the new iPads and Apple Pencils,” Lampen says. “This equipment has become a vital tool in all of my classes. The new charging system will allow more students to get their hands on the digital tools.

“I have been very surprised at how many different ways we have been able to use the digital equipment. When a student struggles with a traditional painting, they can photograph the painting using the IPad, then use the software to experiment with colors and composition. The digital tools let us quickly try new things without waiting a day for the paint to dry.

“In the past, Stop-motion movies took weeks to create, now we can tell a story with original characters, special effects, and multiple backdrops in a matter of 2-3 hours. I am so impressed with how my students learn the software and can get right into the creative aspects of their work in a matter of minutes.

“The iPads and Apple Pencils have been a game changer in the art room!”
