Walk through the East Grand Rapids High School cafeteria and you’ll hear some new sounds: ping pong balls bouncing, foosball rods spinning, air hockey pucks clicking.
They’re all part of a Foundation grant from last year that funded new game tables as part of a lunchroom revitalization.
You’ll hear some other sounds that had been absent from the cafeteria for a while, too: laughter, chatter, socializing, fun.
Just last year, the cafeteria had been a quiet, empty, mostly unused space. But combined with the restoration of the school’s hot lunch program, it’s been brought back to life.
