Remember chalk? Erasers? Blackboards? Sure, if you were recently checking the specials at your neighborhood gastropub. In schools, though, chalkboards haven’t been around for a while.
Whiteboards and dry erase markers replaced chalkboards and chalk, and then whiteboards became high tech. Way back in the spring of 2010, the Foundation funded a grant for interactive whiteboards in 6th grade English classrooms. That fall, three separate Foundation grants funded SMART Board Interactive Whiteboards at the elementary and high school levels. The next year, seven more grants were used to purchase and install SMART Board interactive whiteboards in all our buildings.
So if you’ve now been spared the squeaky scratchy scrape sound of chalk on a chalkboard, you have the Foundation to thank. Oh, and for the educational benefits, too.
Thank you, Foundation donors, for making this possible. You can help support our mission of investing in educational enhancements for all our students on our Donate page.
