This is where we’re supposed to mention how much our band and orchestra programs have benefited from the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation. About how we funded band and orchestra uniforms in 2009. And marching band uniforms in 2016. And $26,000 for sousaphones in 2021. And $25,000 for drumline instruments in 2022. And a district percussion grant for $27,000 in 2023.
But put all that aside for a moment. Look at that picture. That trumpet player is wearing his football uniform because he’s also a football player. He went right from playing in the game to playing in the band. And he’s wearing a gold uniform because it’s the 2019 Hearts of Gold game and he and his teammates and bandmates and classmates are helping raise $219,000 for the Epilepsy Foundation.
So, yes, we support the band. And yes, we support just about everything in all our schools, but there’s so much more. Everything we do, with you as our partner, helps make our community what it is.
