Every so often, a grant comes along that has a much bigger impact than its dollar value. The ukulele club grant last year was one of those. For not very much money, the club offered a lot of joy to its members.
This year's Cooking and Nutrition Club promises to have the same effect. Students Audrey Artz, Kersten Sykes, Viola Verduzio, and Katelyn Artz applied for the grant for $490 along with teacher Heather Carlson. The idea was to start a club at the high school so students could learn more about nutrition and preparing food.
The club has been a tremendous hit with students, with more participants than even the creators imagined.
Turns out teenagers are hungry and like food. Who knew?
