Thanks to a grant from the East Grand Rapids Schools Foundation, all EGRPS 4th graders will have the opportunity to go to Junior Achievement BizTown this year.
Fourth grade teachers at Breton Downs, Lakeside, and Wealthy elementary schools applied for the $4,725.00 grant, which will cover the cost of nine classes attending the program. Last year, Breton Downs teachers received a grant from the Foundation to enable their students to attend BizTown. It was such a success that teachers at all three elementary schools wanted to get in on the grant request.
Junior Achievement BizTown combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. This popular learning experience allows elementary school students the chance to operate banks, manage restaurants, write and deposit checks, work at local businesses, and vote for mayor.
