What are your plans after graduation?
Next year, I will be attending Williams College in Massachusetts where I'll be rowing for the Women's Crew Team and studying on a Pre-Med track.
What have you learned in East that will enable you to be successful?
All throughout my time at East, I have been exposed to so many amazing and encouraging teachers who have pushed me to always strive for my best.
What were you like in school?
Hard-working and nice
Did you have a favorite teacher or class?
I loved all of my teachers, it's too hard to pick a favorite. I had Mr. Farmer for three years for Stats and IB Math, so I got pretty close to him. Mr. VandenBrink's energy and encouragement was always so inspiring in his IB History class. He was also an amazing advisor for my Extended Essay process. Mrs. Hazle's English class was another of my favorites as she taught me how to be the writer and IB thinker that I am today. Finally, I have had Mrs. Hillyard for the past seven years for orchestra. I am so grateful for the community I have experienced in that class.
If you had to choose one moment in one location to serve as the signature moment of your East school experience, what would it be?
I would say that my signature moment was winning gold at Midwest Scholastic Rowing Championships in the double. Bella Olsen and I were the first ever from East to do this, and it was awesome to see all of our hard work on the crew team pay off.
What do you know now that you wish you’d known when you were younger?
High school goes by so quickly, so soak up and appreciate every moment because you never know what the next day will bring.
Who from East do you think you’ll stay in touch with in the future?
I am excited to see what all of my classmates will accomplish in the future!
What advice do you have for young East kids?
East has so many cool opportunities, so don't be afraid to try new things.
