Foundation Funds Stratford Theatre Trip

For many years East Grand Rapids students have traveled to The Stratford Festival for a weekend of live theater, workshops and actor's talks. Located in Stratford, Ontario, Canada, The Stratford Festival is North America’s largest classical repertory theatre company. The Festival produces classics, contemporary dramas and musicals, with special emphasis on the plays of Shakespeare. By attending, our students view professional theatrical productions equivalent to those on Broadway.

This month, 30 drama students will travel with six adults to again participate in this incredible opportunity. They will see three live performances, participate in an actor's talk and a dance workshop. The Foundation was thrilled to support the trip, helping to keep costs down for students and their families.

"Seeing live theatre, especially live theatre of this caliber, is extremely beneficial to young artists. This trip could be the experience that alters a student’s visions for their future. Additionally, trips and group bonding has been shown in countless studies to improve students’ overall educational experience," shared Pamela Steers, Communications Arts Teacher at East Grand Rapids High School.

Thank you, donors, for making this trip possible!
