The EGR branch of the Kent District Library has partnered with the Foundation since 2019
to organize author visits to the EGRPS elementary schools. This time, the author is visiting the
middle school, too.
Author visits give students the opportunity not only to meet and interact with talented authors and illustrators and to be inspired by their books, but also by what and how they write and illustrate those books.
Christina Soontornvat is an amazingly wide-reaching author with award-winning books in several age groups and genres. She has won three Newbery Honor Awards and is the only author ever to win a Newbery Honor in both fiction and nonfiction categories in the same year.
Students continue to be eager to meet these authors, discuss their own writing, talk about their favorite character or scene from one of the books, or just say hello. Students engage with insightful questions and continue to be interested in the author's books long after the visit has taken place.
