Remember magazines? How about newspapers? You might even remember Scholastic News from when you were in school.
There’s still something special about printed material that you can read when and where you want, away from screens. That’s part of the reason why Breton Downs principal Katie McIntosh, Lakeside principal Jennafer Slanger, and Wealthy principal Stephanie Olson applied for a grant from the Foundation this spring to pay for a year’s subscription to Scholastic News for all elementary students.
"Scholastic News will be a valuable addition to our classrooms at our elementary schools, providing students with engaging, age-appropriate content that builds critical thinking, reading comprehension, and a deeper understanding of the world around them,” says Olson. “It not only supports our curriculum but also sparks curiosity and meaningful discussions, helping our students become informed, confident learners who are excited about current events and the world beyond their classroom."
Thank you, Foundation donors, for providing this opportunity for our students!
