The Foundation has been funding student trips to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Ontario for years, but during the pandemic, though, that tradition was put on hold. The tradition was revived last year, and this year students were able to go again, thanks to a grant from EGRHS Drama Director Jesse Aukeman.
Not only were students able to attend a performance of "Annie" and other shows, they were also able to participate in a workshop with professional actors, giving our young actors a chance to hone their craft alongside some of the best in the business.
This school year, the Foundation has funded approximately $100,000 in support for the performing arts in the district, including funding for the new drama director position, new props and sets for high school shows, and productions in all our schools.
