No wonder The Music Man’s Harold Hill went into the band business.
Marching bands are incredibly expensive. Every year, the Foundation, thanks to our donors, funds thousands of dollars in marching band annual support. That doesn’t include individual grants for the band that the Foundation has funded. Just a few examples:
- $27,628 for percussion equipment
- $25,510 for drumline instruments
- $26,408 for sousaphones
It’s a huge commitment from the Foundation, matched only by the dedication of the students in the band and their teachers.
But when you hear the drumline at the middle school on Friday morning, or see the band take the field at Memorial after a football victory Friday night, or see them leading the Homecoming parade on a fall Friday afternoon, it seems like a small price to pay.
