Grant Highlight: Decodable Books

cover of Meg and Greg book

You might not know Meg and Greg, but to an entire segment of readers at our schools, they’re under-the-radar superheroes.

The new Decodable Book Series follows the lovable characters of Meg and Greg on exciting new adventures in their community. Each chapter highlights a specific phonic concept that will help support our students continue on the path to reading success!

Most important to students who are struggling to keep up with their peers, the decodable books that feature Meg and Greg look just like the chapter books their classmates are reading.

The grant request for decodable books was submitted by Andrea Dudley, Hannah Bailey, Stacey Goodman, and Britt O’Malley. “The Meg and Greg series books are uniquely designed to support children who struggle with reading by combining phonics based concepts with high-interest stories that avoid being ‘babyish,’" the grant request reads. “This prevents older struggling readers from feeling bored or demoralized by books intended for much younger children.”
