Grant Highlight: Primetime Pioneers

“The project absolutely met our stated goals and expected outcomes. The microphones and cinema-quality light have already greatly enhanced the production quality of our recorded segments, our live broadcast, and independent student projects.”

That’s EGRHS teacher John Noreen talking about a grant he requested in the fall of 2025 to purchase new equipment for the Primetime Pioneers class that produces a news broadcast for the high school.

Looking at episodes from a year ago compared to recent ones, the difference is clear. “Students have developed new skills related to the incorporation of professional level equipment,” Noreen says. They've learned to set up and utilize equipment that is substantially more capable (which means at times less user friendly) than they were previously accustomed to.”

Noreen says the new equipment is giving students experience that approximates broadcasts they might be involved in as part of their careers. “With this technology grant, students are able to learn and use the same quality of equipment used by professional productions, providing them with real life skills that will translate well beyond the classroom,” he says.

Thank you, Foundation donors, for making this technology available to our students!
